Field notes

The forest does not need you, but it remembers what you do. Here is what it has kept.

Trait over time

Every line of Munkel begins with one who strayed far enough from their ancestors. Each bar is a line’s life: its length how long it lasted, its thickness how large it grew. Faded lines are gone.

The Munkel speak with eight runes. Nothing tells them what a rune means: each learns from what follows its words, and from those around it. Below is how often each circle uses each rune, and how far apart their dialects have drifted.

Rune use

Dialect distance

Now and then a Munkel stumbles on something new. What it learns is passed on as the Munkel rest and groom together, and is lost when the last who knows it lets it go or dies.

Now and then the Munkel gather under the Great Tree to talk, and vote on what to do, or on leaving things be.

Lens

Tint every Munkel by something hidden.

Fast-forward

Beyond the dock’s four speeds. If your device cannot keep up, the forest simply runs as fast as it can.

Stranger things

Rare visitors come of their own accord, about one in ten days. Here you may ask for one now.
